Materials Matter
Not all garage floor coatings are created equal. Here's what separates lasting floors from weekend warrior disasters and why we use both epoxy and polyaspartic.
Epoxy Base Coat
- Superior adhesion to concrete
- Thicker application for durability
- Proven longevity (20+ years)
- Handles substrate imperfections
Polyaspartic Top coat
- UV-stable (won't yellow)
- Hot tire pickup resistance
- Chemical resistant finish
- Fast cure time (less downtime)

Frequently Asked Questions
Seven years and thousands of projects mean we've heard every question. Here are the answers.
How long does garage floor coating installation take?
Most Lifetime Coatings installations are completed in one to two days from start to finish. Day one typically covers surface preparation: industrial diamond grinding, crack repair, and primer application if needed. The epoxy base coat and polyaspartic topcoat are applied the same day or the next day, depending on project scope. Polyaspartic cures faster than traditional epoxy-only systems, so most homeowners can return their vehicles to the garage within 24 hours of coating completion. See the full installation process.
How long does garage floor coating last?
Lifetime Coatings backs its residential installations with a lifetime warranty against peeling, delamination, and coating failure. The longevity of your floor depends on proper installation and basic maintenance. Lifetime uses industrial diamond grinding for surface prep, which creates the concrete profile required for long-term adhesion. Cheap DIY kits and box-store epoxies often fail within a few years because they skip this step. A professionally installed polyaspartic system, properly maintained, can last the life of your home.
Will the coating yellow or change color over time?
No. Lifetime Coatings uses UV-stable polyaspartic topcoats that will not yellow, fade, or change color with age or sun exposure. Older epoxy-only systems are not UV-resistant and commonly discolor within a few years. The polyaspartic topcoat applied over the epoxy base coat at every Lifetime installation is specifically engineered for UV stability and long-term color retention.
Can I install garage floor coating myself?
Professional installation is strongly recommended. DIY garage floor coating kits consistently underperform and fail faster than professionally installed systems. The most critical step in any long-lasting coating is concrete surface preparation. Industrial diamond grinding, the equipment Lifetime uses, creates the proper concrete profile for adhesion. Box-store kits rely on acid etching, which is far less effective. Without proper prep, coatings peel within months. Lifetime's free on-site quote lets you compare the cost of doing it right versus doing it twice.
What happens if there are cracks in my concrete?
Crack repair is included as a standard part of every Lifetime Coatings installation — you do not need to fix cracks before calling us. Lifetime's installers evaluate all cracks and joints during surface preparation and repair them using flexible materials designed to accommodate concrete movement. This helps prevent cracks from reflecting through the coating over time. Only structural concrete failure, caused by groundwater or foundation issues, falls outside the scope of what a floor coating system can address.
Does Lifetime Coatings offer financing?
Yes. Lifetime Coatings has partnered with EnerBank USA to offer financing, including a 0% interest, 9-month same-as-cash option. Financing allows homeowners to complete their garage upgrade without paying the full cost upfront. Additional loan options are available for projects requiring longer terms. Ask about financing options during your free on-site consultation or when requesting a quote.
What does the Lifetime Coatings warranty cover?
The residential lifetime warranty covers peeling, delamination from the concrete substrate, coating failure from installation defects, and material defects. The warranty does not cover physical damage from impacts, chemical damage from inappropriate substances, groundwater or structural concrete failure, or lack of basic maintenance. If you experience an issue you believe is covered, contact Lifetime with photos and a description, and they will assess the situation, typically within 24 to 48 hours.
